I’ve put together a series of abstract dune images taken in Death Valley that I think work as a collection of four. As I’ve mentioned before, abstract photography is perhaps the most special to me because it lets me distill my subjects down to their simplest forms and still (hopefully) capture the essence of a place. Simple colors, patterns and lines become the entire subject and leave more to the imagination. These four images taken at the Mesquite Dunes show the many changing patterns in the dunes created by sand, wind and light. One thing I love about the dunes is that, while seemingly stationary, static subjects, they are actually constantly in motion, slowly being moved by strong, steady winds. Each image shown here is available separately or in any combination, and can be matted in a single frame or displayed separately. Click on the image below for a larger view.
